Strange food the day before Christmas in Iceland

Today at noon , i went to the skate ( fish ) festival .
It is a tradition to cook , fermented fish or you might call it - rotten fish.
The smell of it and taste is to some here in Iceland - horrific , but others love it .
But many are forbidden to cook this at home - because of the huge smell , that wont go away .
That is why they cook this at a Truck Garage in Mosfellsbaer - a town just north of Reykjavik.
According to a opinion poll , about 40 percent of the ICeland population eat this the day before christmas, but 60 percent do not eat this - and want to make it illeagal to cook this fish .
    So 40 % percent love this fermented,rotten fish - but 60 % hate this , with a passion.
You can see when i come into the garage , that the stench, fogs up the lense of the camera - but later i celaned it , and you can see the people enjoyng this tradition.
The fish is Skate, and it is kalled - Kaeskt Skata - ( rotten Skate ? )
