This iReport is part of an assignment:
Tell us the Good Stuff!
An Ireporter and a baby.
Please read first before you watch the video.
Tell you the good stuff?
Okay...I'll tell you something.
Just a small story about an iReporter and a baby.
Considering it is Christmas now, this seemed sort of appropriate.
Three years ago an iReporter named ANAV, knowing that I composed music, asked for a Christmas song in the middle of the summer. lol
So since he was my first friend here on ireports...I did as he asked.
It took a few weeks to decide how I was going to write this song.
What was it going to be about?
Should I do secular or Christian based?
In the end, I sort of did both.
As I was reading the nativity story I just had this disturbing feeling of what it must have been like for this young girl to have to bear a child.
And not just any child, the "Son of God".
Now my own beliefs are not exactly the same as most Christians, so this was a little strange for me to have to imagine.
Not only the huge burden that this would bring the young Mary, but knowing the ending of this story...how her son would die, just about did me in.
I have a daughter and the thought of ever losing her, and in such an horrific way (whether you believe or not), was just to much for me to fathom.
So I went back to the beginning and thought, "how would I have handled raising a child king...mostly if I had known the outcome?"
And the song above is what I composed.
Strange thing this song...
Most mothers can relate this to their own children.
For each mother, they know the feeling of quiet desperation and wondering if they will be any good at raising a child.
So I guess my good stuff is just being able to relate to all mothers, through this very special mother.
Strangely brought about through CNN's iReports.
