United Airlines Debacle
United Airlines sucks! I booked a flight for my 14 year old daughter (First time flyer) from Omaha to San Antonio, with a stop to change planes in Houston on 12-22-2013. I had a flight from San Antonio to Houston and return. I was to arrive two hour before her plane, greet her at her gate, and return to San Antonio on the same plane. Fifteen minutes before my plane was to leave San Antonio, the flight was cancelled. I understand, flight cancellations happen. I do not agree with the excuse...flight crew was out of hours (The same flight the day before was cancelled too).
United was no help to me whatsoever. I was told there are no more flights to Houston. No compassion, or conversation from the people at the gate. When I approached the ticket agent downstairs, she had the same reaction, but colder! When I asked for my daughter to be assisted from her gate at the A terminal to the E terminal at Houston..they said they could not do that, and why I didn't purchase an unaccompanied minor ticket. My response was, "she did not need one...I was suppose to be there, but my flight was cancelled."
Why couldn't they assist her? Because I didn't pay for it!
Really United?? Doing the right thing over profit doesn't appeal to you? You are already hemorrhaging millions of dollars, why not help a kid out by doing the right thing?
Since the people at the United desk at the San Antonio Airport were no help, I called an 800 number. That call...I'm not sure was answered by someone in the continental United States. Speaking with a thick Indian accent that I had a tough time understanding, he ended up hanging up on me. I called back and talked to a nicer gal (Also with and Indian accent), she said she noted on the account that my daughter would have assistance when she arrived in Houston. The only assistance she received was someone at the gate pointing in a direction.
So, my flight was cancelled, and was told I would receive a refund. When I called two different people today (12-23-2013)...both of which had strong, hard to understand Indian accents, the first said my tickets had been transferred to American Airlines (The very first I heard of that), the other said my refund would be processed in 7-10 business days.
Totally pathetic customer service. I would be embarrassed to be a shareholder, employee, or patron to United Airlines.
