CNN PRODUCER NOTE     dpkronmiller tried again but had no luck signing up for healthcare on Tuesday, Dec. 24. He is an independent writer/producer/film consultant and his wife opted out of insurance through her teaching assistant job thinking they could get coverage under the Affordable Care Act. 'We've only been able to get through the application stage, though we're not sure if that's 100 percent complete either. We have not been able to get to the purchase stage at all.'

My family and I tried to sign up today for health insurance under the ACA here in California and had no luck!

We are fine with the law though I am personally not fond of the mandate as I don't think it's entirely necessary but we tried for 4 hours to get signed up and walked away without getting covered. We'll try again tomorrow and hopefully have better luck.

We had to wait so late because we've been incredibly busy. Our baby girl was born just 9 weeks ago and between taking care of her and my job we've had no time to sit down and work on this as a family until today. This is also the last thing you want to be doing during the holiday season!

We got pretty far in the process - I think anyway but we're not able to get past the application and into the marketplace to buy insurance.

I do work in the IT side of the entertainment industry as well as the production/content producing side and normally you spend a good year developing and testing out a new site before you go wide. In this case it seems as if the site - even here in California - needs some more work and development.

    The problems we encountered were:

    1) Page timeouts kept occuring
    2) Long wait time for Chatting with Support and then being told they were too busy after waiting 30 minutes.
    3) User name and password seem to no longer work! (yikes!)
    4) Income questions seemed far too limited.

I've been moving away from politics the last couple of years out of exhaustion with that side of our society and because I've needed to focus on my own endevours like my new web show at www.iwent2filmschool.com but I will say that this roll out shows how both parties really keep letting us down. Instead of fighting they should have spent time working out the bugs and delivering us the best possible solution for our healthcare needs - instead of paying the cheapest vendor to do it and all the infighting between the parties watering down the discussion.

Above are my thoughts on today's effort and the Affordable Care Act in general.
