Lord Infamous Dead Three 6 Mafia 40

Three 6 Mafia founder Ricky "Lord Infamous" Dunigan died Friday evening at age 40 . His bandmate and uncle DJ Paul said that the rapper died in his sleep of a heart attack at his mother's home in Memphis.

" He was at home , sitting at table, and he just lay your head down , and he just left us , " said Paul . Although Paul says Infamous was not sick lately, he suffered from a stroke and a heart attack in 2010

Lord Infamous began his hip-hop career alongside DJ Paul ( younger brother of his mother ) in Memphis in the early 1990s . Along with Juicy J, the two formed a Three 6 Mafia in 1991 and released their debut album , Mystic Stylez four years later. In 2005, Three 6 Mafia became the first rap group to win an Oscar for best song of their track "Hard Out Here for a Pimp", which was featured in the film Hustle & Flow .

Earlier this year , the majority of members of the group reformed under the name Da Mafia 6IX and released a mixtape called 6ix commandments. Lord Infamous worked with them on a new album , which is set for March 2014 , said DJ Paul. He is also preparing to re-release his old mixtape series , due out in March.

" He was a legend in the game, really ahead of his time ," DJ Paul said, "He was a great poet , and he always came with these different styles in his rap and its flow . "

In addition, Paul said he was loved by all and is known for his generosity .  was the kind of person who never cared about how much money or this or that. He just loved making music , he liked to rap , and he loved to make people happy . "
