This iReport is part of an assignment:
Confessions from imperfect parents
Fighting our own worst critic with this list of reminders
I wanted to share with the readers this great article by Hands Free Mama. http://www.handsfreemama.com/2013/12/17/three-words-for-the-critic-in-your-head/. Parenting is a 24/7 responsibility and replete with extreme ups and downs everyday at any moment of the day. Those moments when we are not acting our best, our children are misbehaving, being impatient, and just everything seems to be going wrong can be overwhelming and we can sometimes react in ways in which we can regret later. This is a great piece and I hope you think of it when you do not act your best with your child. As parents, we can be so tough on ourselves for not getting it right ALL the time and we can forget all of the thousands of times when we did get it right. Don't let those ugly moments overcast the other beautiful experiences you share with your child. The important thing is to learn from the mistake, learn what caused these reactions in us as parents and find a way to avoid reacting this way again in the future.
