Obama Grants 1% Pay Raise to Civilian and Military Employees

US President Obama issued an order in Honolulu regarding the pay raise in civilians and military employee salaries.  This pay raise will be applicable from 2014 and it has been decided that 1% pay raise will be given to civilians and military employees.

This time it’s an executive and important raise because it includes civilian’s as well previously military employees were given pay raise each year but the pay scale of civilians was stuck on a single point and they weren’t taken into consideration. The reason behind this flat pay scale for civilians was the federal budget deficit.

The campaign track created in 2010 and 2012 the issue was raised by the republicans that the pay scale of federal employees isn’t justified. They said that they same contributing in the national fiscal problems but there portion is very little and doesn’t really bringing any impact. Taking this into account, Obama discussed the strength of economy which is getting stronger now. He said that, “our fiscal situation is firmer, with deficits that are now less than half of what they were when I took office.” He further said that he have plans for raise in the next year budget which will improve the standards of living or republicans and civilians.

The other factor that will be improved with this decision is the cost of living; it will get modest which will eventually impact the overall economy of the country. If you consider only federal civilians, this is the first step taken for them for improving and adjusting their cost of improvements.

It was observed that the federal civilians have worked hard and contributed a great amount to reduce the deficit of the fiscal budget. Hoyer said in one of his statement that, “As the economy improves after the most serious downturn in decades, this increase is the right decision and correctly honors the concept of pay parity that I have long supported.” This means that they are now considering civilians as well and taking decisions for their betterments now. According to one of the report issued on 23rd Nov, 2012 it was observed that the contribution of civilians are remarkable but the benefits for them are lower than that of the government officials and republicans.

The decision taken by Obama this time is quite impressive and will bring a great change for civilians. He is currently on vacation with his family but has issued this order on Monday so that the agencies would revise their pay scale before the beginning of New Year and so that they have enough time to rephrase their pay systems. It has been predicted that the next step would be the improvement of education system through technological advancements and online mode of learning.
