Phl to fight Mexican drug cartel

THE Philippine government on Thursday said it will take the needed actions to neutralize a Mexican drug cartel that made its presence felt in the country.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. assured the public that authorities have a duty to arrest lawbreakers and charge them in accordance with law.
"Of course, the government will seek to arrest these lawbreakers, stop their crimes, and protect the citizenry," he told reporters.
Earlier on Thursday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that the dreaded Sinoloa drug syndicate has made its way to the Philippines.
PDEA head Arturo Cacdac Jr. said the operation of the drug syndicate was discovered following a raid in Batangas province that netted 84 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P420 million.
