    Base of Vernal Falls

     

    The Merced River falls 317 feet at Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park. The adjacent Mist Trail, named for the continuous spray that can be felt coming from the falls, leads to the top of the waterfall and ultimately to the peak of half dome, one of the most prominent features of Yosemite.
