CNN PRODUCER NOTE farmer808 says he has been smoking cannabis since middle school. He is now in his mid 40s and works as a computer engineer for a multinational company. He has a medical marijuana card due to chronic back pain. 'Marijuana is demonized as a demotivational habit of a lazy crowd, but I am a high performing, innovative, overachiever who uses marijuana to relax after a hard day's work. I have two college degrees and over a dozen patents in computer science. Like any habit, abuse leads to problems, but properly used in moderation I feel that marijuana is a boon to society, especially when you contrast its effects to alcohol consumption.'

Frustration, anger, depression, impatience ..... are all conditions that my 'medicine' mitigates. I find myself more kind, more forgiving, more loving, more friendly, and generally a better person when I have used marijuana. I have been smoking for most of my adult life but have taken a 1 year hiatus three different times for different reasons, the last one was simply to make sure it was still a voluntary action to smoke it and not something I feel I have to have. I often travel internationally for up to 30 days at a time and I don;t miss it or crave it. But in my home town, I find that when I get done working, my day gets better and my emotional health improves the moment I spark up. For me, it is a beautiful thing that allows me to be more of a positive person. I think its honestly a viable treatment for a variety of conditions that currently get pharmaceutical remedies with side effects that are more harmful than the cannibanoids in marijuana. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, marijuana is a boon to my life and helps me treat my fellow humans with the patience and kindness they deserve.
