This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Does marijuana help you?

Gateway In?! No, it's the gateway out!!

Smoke your pot, don't let your pot smoke you. I have been an excessive smoker for about seven years and I, personally, have yet to come across a negative episode, in any fashion. Instead, it has done more for me than against me. It has taught me to put the bottle down, alcohol alone is much more to handle and quicker to ruin someone. I used to be a heavy drinker and found myself in and out of depressive stages until I paid more of my attention towards pot and less alcohol. Many people say it's the gateway in, but for most people it is the gateway OUT. Pot helped me learn how to moderate and control my alcohol consumption and it also taught me how to smile again. I believe in legalizing it! In comparison to many other drugs, it's no where near as lethal, I don't believe it is lethal at all. I've seen alcohol turn peoples lives upside down, faster than quick sand but pot will only bring out the worst in you, if you allow it to. It depends on your character to begin with, for lazy people, there's a high chance it'll make more lazy but for a balanced individual, it can show you how to operate different parts of your mind for the best. Sometimes, I myself can conclude certain emotional stalemates that are circling through out my mind, which I wouldn't be able to grasp in a sober mind state. Pot can do wonders for wonderful people. I believe it is harmless compared to alcohol, which is legalized of course. Merely that notion alone should be a well enough reason to legalize it. Crime, should a pot dealer be compared to a rapist or murderer? Should a pot dealer be tried as a felon? Under certain circumstances, most of these individuals are obligated to take that route only to maintain survival, survival based off meeting financial needs. I say legalize it, it's time for the states to grow up and pay more attention towards bigger topics.
