As a teenager I smoked marijuana quite frequently. I was not the stereotypical pot head from "Ridgemont High" I lettered in swimming and graduated from High School as a average student. My parents were pretty strict with me and I was not allowed to have long hair and look like a stoner. After graduation I joined the Navy during the 20 years I was in the Navy I did not smoke any marijuana. I did drink, and at times heavily and paid dearly for some of my late night drinking episodes, health wise and in trouble. Alcohol just really makes you do stupid shit, just watch any episode of COPS on TV and you will see that 95 percent of the people are being arrested because they are intoxicated. I don't recall any time as a teenager smoking marijuana that I was ever belligerent or woke up with a vicious hangover. I do recall some pretty bad scenes while drinking. As the day for me to retire from the Navy grew closer so did my plans to smoke my first joint grow. I now smoke marijuana on a regular basis. I have type 2 diabetes and should not drink so I smoke marijuana instead of drinking. I mainly smoke to relax and it helps with my insomnia. Since I live in a state that has yet to legalize any kind of marijuana I take a chance of getting busted with every transaction I make. What I find ironic is that my Dr. has no problems prescribing me ambien for insomnia which we are just now finding out can become addictive, yet i cannot legally use something that is natural and somewhat harmless to help me sleep at night. I do hope that one day congress and the DEA will figure it out. Nicotine and Alcohol legally kill thousands of people daily, yet there are NO!!! yes NO!!! deaths ever recorded from the use of marijuana. I believe common sense is a reference here lets start using our common sense and legalize the recreational use of marijuana nation wide..
