Medicinal Marijuana Users Do Not Agree With Recreational Marijuana

I am employed at a medical marijuana safe access point in Washington State. Marijuana has been recognized by the state of Washington as something with medicinal value since the late 1990's. Medical authorities in Washington state issue recommendations to patients who are in such a condition that they have researched and found a doctor, visited the doctor with chart-notes in hand, and paid the fee to receive a recommendation. Once you have one you can come into my shop and safely "donate" for medicine. Washington State Liquor Control board is attempting to abolish medical marijuana and replace it with recreational. To me this is so sad, because marijuana is not alcohol, it is not tobacco, it is not a recreational thing. Marijuana has healing properties and has been recognized as such for just about 15 years! Marijuana should not be belittled into a category of narcotics which takes the lives of people and tears families apart. I'm brokenhearted about the way the government has latched onto this idea of "recreational pot". And frankly am disappointed in the direction that the bulk of the media has taken these stories. If anyone in the government would take the time to really talk to patients, rather than giving them a few moments to speak in a public board room, they would rethink their decisions to take away the rights of patients and instead instill their own rules and laws which serve no purpose to the people except to tax them more. Cannabis is the most beautiful plant in the entire world, and like it or not, humanity has a symbiotic relationship with the plant. Yes, some of us more than others, but I say that people who chose to recognize pot as a recreational thing have only scratched the surface of what the plant can do. This is more of a cry for help than an article, I only hope that the people realize what is happening with marijuana and try to shape the laws to fit the people and not the deficit. I will not buy recreational pot. I will not feed into the system which so desires to control us. In fact most people I have talked to will go back to the old way of doing things ie. utilizing the cannabis black market to get my medicine and no I do not mean cartel marijuana. Northwest cannabis is arguably the best cannabis in the world and no law has ever affected our community and I guarantee you it will not affect us in the future. Here is my idea and the idea of many people I come into contact with daily- let's talk about giving rules to cannabis as if it is nothing more than a flower, and let's recognize what many have started to; that for many people in this world, cannabis is the only relief to be found, and I would rather find my relief in a natural plant than a synthetic, pharmaceutical pill.
