    Does marijuana help you?

    It stops the voices...

As a person who has spent the better part of 15 years on this antidepressant or that antipsycotic, dealt with the side effects and the social stigmas that come along with them I can honestly say that having a medical professional who is capable of managing a natural substance with far fewer negative side effects would be a God send. There are those who will complain that people get high and kill people and their mind is altered or that they become lazy. Well to those people I would like for you to read the precautions on legal pharmacological options and ask yourself if, sexual dysfunction, social dysfunction and an elevated risk of suicide is a price that we as a society are willing to pay? Your doctor can prescribe you an opiate with far greater risk of dependency, an SSRI with staggering mortality rates and a list of chemicals that would rival that of any chemicals found under the kitchen sink, or hell you can even walk into any convenience store and let a school girl prescribe you a 12 pack of your favorite redneck juice.
I guess my point is that it is about time we end this war on a little plant that was originally started just because textile manufacturers in the south were afraid that it would cut into their profits from cotton based products. These are the same people who felt slavery was an acceptable means of getting work done cheaply and the same people who have invested in giant pharmacology firms that are looking at the bottom line rather than the well being of society. I mean come on, there its no money in a medicine you can grow at home.

This was originally a social media post advocating for SB710 and it was written over a year ago, in the past few months I have researched more and more about the effects of the chemical compounds in cannabis that do this or that and now feel that a solid choice of strains could rope in the "getting high" part of it all. Knowing what you are getting into before just saying, "well I got this sack of weed from the kids down the street and its supposed to be good" and you end up locked to a couch drooling orange Cheeto slobber all over the place would be amazing. Instead I prefer the option of knowing that if I take two tokes off of Hindu Kush there is not going to be the constant buzz in the back of my head... Yeah I have a little blue bottle with a couple little white pills that I am supposed to take when the voice gets too loud and I feel the overwhelming urge to harm myself or others or I could just ride it out hunched in the floor of my closet so no one can see because the pills cause and erection and restlessness, so now not only do I have a painful erection and insomnia for several days but I have anther little yellow pill that I am supposed to take if that becomes too much to handle as well... But hey I feel better right?
