This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Does marijuana help you?

    Figure out the taxes.

It is completely beyond comprehension why we have not found a way to properly regulate and tax recreational marijuana. If you look at the revenue generated by the other "sin" taxes, it is a no brainer, that this would be good for the country in so many ways. It would put an end to the absolutely failed and unneccessary war on a "drug" that is safer than alcohol. It would save tax payers money by no longer locking up non-violent offenders. One might argue, that the revenue created by locking up offenders is greater from the fines, but that is a bogus number. Most, if not all people who recreationally smoke marijuana have jobs, and are not "turning tricks" to get their next purchase. Almost of all of us have jobs.

Pot is safer than alcohol, works wonders for little ailmants like headaches, chronic pain, nausea, stress, and has little to no dangerous side effects for the vast majority of users.

The same people who will say it will destroy the moral fiber of our country, probably have no problem cracking open a beer, or drinking a glass of wine.
