How the EA Grinch is Stealing Christmas

Despite known issues with their 2013 release of Battlefield 4, EA Sports decided to continue to offer the product (for approximately $60 per copy) in stores for Christmas. The result: countless Xbox 360 users unable to enjoy their new holiday toy.

Battlefield 4 was released with major fanfare as the newest greatest first person shooter on the market. But buyer beware. Owners of the Microsoft Xbox slim can't use the game, as their hard-drive is incompatible.

Furthermore, many users of the original Xbox 360 console, even with the correct hard drive and available space, can not use the game. Some Xbox 360 consoles are getting an "infinite loading screen" resulting in an unplayable game.

While EA has indeed released a patch (Multiuser Patch 3), in many cases, the installation of this patch does not correct the issue.

EA assures it's customers that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix.

But the damage is already done. Christmas vacation is half over for most children, many of whom have a $60 beverage-coaster sitting next to their Xbox 360 console.

Poorly played by EA indeed. Gamers and shareholders alike are not impressed.
