Travel snapshots: Embracing winter
Hudson Valley Tourist

On the whole I'm not normally a great winter lover, however several years ago I learned that near my home in the Hudson Valley we are visited by several hundred bald eagles. The eagles come here from up north in late December when their waterways become iced over and fishing becomes impossible. So each year I take my camera and head down to the Hudson River to photograph the eagles. As I was photographing this eagle who was sitting on a piece of ice looking for fish swimming by he decided to take to the skies. I continued to photograph him as he showed me the beautiful view of the Hudson Valley covered in snow. Although winter weather can be harsh there is a certain peaceful beauty in mountains covered by snow.
