A mystery coconut tree, at Mafia Island-Tanzania

It was on 17th December 2013 when I started my trip to visit Mafia Island to search for news. The journey started at 2.00 pm using local wind boat from a small docking port at Nyamisati village, Rufiji district. It was adventurous journey as this boat was only depending on the wind blow in sea to reach to its destination East to South in Mafia town, which is an Island.
I arrived in Mafia town at 8.00 pm and the next day I set for another trip to Bwejuu Island to visit this small village inhabited by at least 1,000 people.
In this village I was shown a coconut palm tree with unique appearance and never existed anywhere else in Tanzania. This tree is referred by locals as a "Mystery Coconut tree". This tree at its top forms a continuous closed cycle. What caused this mystery is unknown?
