Newcastle Winter Carnival & NYE Fireworks

The city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England celebrated the New Year with a popular winter carnival and fireworks show.

The carnival featured a brilliant parade of bright, colourful and sensational displays, which weaved its way through the city centre before converging on the towering Civic Centre building. A huge number of spectators joined the parade, which included a fire-breathing dragon boat, a glowing rabbit and a range of dancers and drummers.

The parade came to an end at the Civic Centre, where a stunning fireworks show lit up the skies of the city. Rockets of all kinds shot up into the air around the tower of the Civic Centre as families, friends and revelers looked on.

Elsewhere in Newcastle festive decorations adorned many buildings on the parade route, including the Fenwick store Christmas window and Grey's Monument.
