Paramaribo! The place to be on New Year's Eve

Thousands of people, long strings of firecrackers and celebrations everywhere is what you will get in Paramaribo on the 31st of December.

It's a yearly festival of companies lighting up strings of firecrackers in the capital of Suriname. This year the total length of firecrackers was more than 2500 meters.

It's not only the firecrackers why thousands of people around the world come together in this little country in South America. It's the unique celebration of New Year's Eve, called 'Owru Yari', that unites the people. Everybody party and celebrates Owru Yari together.
