New Years Eve in Ersfjordbotn Norway

Despite it not being the right time of year to view the aurora borealis mother nature decided to bring her own fireworks to the New Years Eve party last night.

Here in Ersfjordbotn in Norway where we are staying on vacation we were lucky enough to have completely cloudless skies through out New Years Eve evening. Despite the anticipated aurora forecast not being very high, due to the position of Ersfjordbotn just 20km's outside of Tromso it is an ideal place to view the auroras.

With just mother nature's own firework display for company we were kept entertained right up until 11.40pm, just in time for us to return to our warm cosy cabin to open a celebratory glass of champagne to mark the New Year.

It certainly made for a very memorable New Years Eve and this is possibly the best evening we've had viewing the aurora in 3 trips here.
