Rose Parade 2014
Sunshine and blue skies capped a perfect day for the 125th annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. The floats were vibrant and creative and the crowd seemed to enjoy every moment. From marching bands, to show horses, to animated floats, there was something to catch every onlooker's interest. The gorgeous California weather likelly left all of the out-of-town visitors hoping to extend their visit as long as possible.
This year's parade theme was "Dreams Come True" and Hall of Fame Broadcaster Vin Scully served as the Tournament of Roses Grand Marshal. One float in this year's parade was controversial--Sea World's float was accompanied by numerous armed security personnel because of recent protests by PETA and other animal activists who are upset at the fact that Sea World keeps large marine mammals such as killer whales, beluga whales, pilot whales, and dolphins in captivity as was recently featured in CNN's airing of "Blackfish."
The parade went very smoothly and there were no significant disturbances. A flyover by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in a beautiful triangular formation began the day when they flew over the 5.5 mile parade route.
