    40th Birthday, Sweet and Sad Mali the Elephant?

     
    Mali the Elephant , the famous and controversial elephant in the Manila Zoo.
    As of today , Mali is 40 years old but she is still the sweet and darling of the zoo-goers. Specially now with the holiday season there will be outpour of visitors in the Manila Zoo. A brief background about Mali, she was born in Sri Lanka and the young age, she was shipped to the Manila Zoo. Her residence for almost 40 years, where she continues to be the sweet and darling of the zoo-goers.

    The controversy between the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia and Manila Zoo regarding the fate of the elephant. According to PETA, the current enclosure of Mali is too small and mention also the suffering of foot disease . An online petition for Mali's transfer to sanctuary has been signed and including international and local celebrities have joined the campaign. For now, it is awaiting the verdict for the transfer of Mali to a sanctuary.

    Whatever will be the result or transfer of Mali to a sanctuary, Mali's life continues at the Manila Zoo. She still continues to entertain and show her sweetness to her visitors at the Manila Zoo. You can see and feel Mali being the darling to the zoo-goers and you can hear them calling her name "Mali"
