The Snow Finally Came to New York City

Predictions of serious snow seemed wrong until after 8pm.  New York City residents who depend on a mass transit system that typically comes to a halt in any kind of harsh weather were starting to wonder if changing their evening plans was a mistake when the snow very gradually went from a flurry to a full blown storm over the few hours after sundown.  Just when residents were starting to say that all the hype about a big snow event were false premonitions of doom and gloom unless it came down fast and hard at night, they could see out their windows that the snowstorm was on in earnest, soon followed by snowplows and sand spreaders.
