Hi, I'm Kay. I have spinal osteoarthritis, intestinal polyps, IBS, insomnia, anxiety attacks, OCD, Fibromyalgia, hypertension, migraines and glaucoma and colitis, among other conditions. If I took all the drugs my doctor wants to give me, I'd be taking the drugs for the conditions and for the side effects (even more drugs). The quantities of pills each day were HUGE just to have my conditions semi controlled. The pain was beyond what you can imagine, each day was coated in misery, taking those awful drugs. The side effects of constipation, migraines, dizziness, nausea, disorientation and rebound diarrhea, from those drugs were almost as bad as the illness. Now, I take medical marijuana edibles and it helps/controls most of the conditions I have and renders my life livable. I have been sent home to die twice and I firmly believe the reason I'm not dead and the polyps removed were non cancerous is medical marijuana. It's saved my life and made my life worth living, what I've got left and I couldn't be more grateful. But, I think that with my having medical coverage (Kaiser, who's policy is NOT to recommend medical marijuana) that does not cover my medical marijuana (and it's WAY cheaper than all the pills I took) and won't cover the visit to get my medical recommendation just adds insult to injury. I finally find a drug that not only alleviates my symptoms, but also helps to cure my conditions??? And my medical coverage not only won't pay for it, but it won't pay for the doctor to recommend it??? Wow. So, if I can buy my edibles to control my pain and conditions without having to come up with the $$ for the doctors recommendation, well, there's more money for medicine for me!! As long as the buyers are adults and the main side effect is everyones happy and getting well and healthier, all I can say is BRING RETAIL POT TO CALIFORNIA!!! No one gets stoned and beats people or does other violent crime, that's alcohol and that's perfectly legal. It's so ridiculous. I have a degree in Human Services and special certification in drug and alcohol rehab from ARC, I have counseled many drug addicts in the past and guess what? NO ONE ever told me they got stoned and did bad things. Not from pot, for sure there were hairy stories about doing awful things for alcohol or other drugs, but marijuana, Nope, not a problem for addicts. It was MUCH harder for them to give up caffeine or cigarettes!! Both, perfectly legal. And why are caffeine and cigarettes legal? NOT because they won't hurt you, but because there was profit to be made from taxing those products. Well, there's profit to be made from recreational marijuana and soooo much misinformation out there about it, it staggers the mind!!! That misinformation floating around out there was NO accident, either, that was part of a smear campaign to save the jobs of the men who arrested all the illegal alcohol and still makers of the prohibition era. Once prohibition was lifted, what were those men to do as far as jobs went? Well, a smear campaign against marijuana fit that bill, kept those men employed and gave them a new target to distract folks from all the people that alcohol and tobacco were killing!! So ridiculous. In all of history, marijuana has never killed any person, EVER!!! Everyone knows about alchohol poisoning, and emphysema, but is HORRIFIED if someone gets caught with a joint! Ridiculous! First thing that needs to be done is the scheduling of this innocuous drug needs to be changed, currently it's classified as NO Medical Use Whatsoever. I call BS!! It's been proven to cure cancer, stop seizures, help folks sleep and so many other therapeutic uses with happiness as a side effect!!! A better question than would you buy retail pot, is "Why isn't pot covered by my medical provider?" Even if you just use it to relax, is that really so bad? Good lord, lets all join hands and enter the 21st century a better, happier, healthier and more educated people and open the retail pot shops and lets tax it and get rid of our deficit!!! And make everyone healthier!!!
