Benin: Yayi Boni urges compatriots to shun corruption in 2014

Cotonou, Bénin - President Yayi Boni of Benin has called on his compatriots to make the fight against corruption their main focal point in 2014.

In his new-year message Tuesday night, President Boni urged his people to mobilize massively against corruption, warning that his administration and the people would not tolerate the immeasurable harm corruption causes in the country.

He said the fight against corruption, if genuinely done, would bring about good results in the shortest possible time, including good governance and accountability.

President Boni urged the people to give up their differences and put the nation's overall interest above all other interests.
