    Fire in Pacomia

Firefighters were battling a massive fire Thursday at a lumber yard in Pacoima.

The blaze broke out just before 8 p.m. in the 11100 block of Sutter Avenue (map). At least 106 firefighters were on the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

As of 8:20 p.m. firefighters were taking a defensive posture with the fire in an attempt to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures.

There were power lines down in the area, but no evacuations have been issued, according to a tweet from LAFD.

The fire could force the closure of the nearby Metrolink Antelope Valley line, according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

By 8:45 p.m. the bulk of the fire had been knocked down, according to fire officials.
