    Changed your mind about marijuana?

    My Life For the Better

I, like a lot of people in the mid-west come from a very conservative family. Marijuana was never discussed and I'm sure if I brought it up today I would destroy some very personal relationships. So, why would I smoke this drug? To me, the benefits are practically endless. I am over 21 and have been sick off of alcohol numerous times but have never once experienced any negative physical side effects from marijuana. My creativity levels have sky-rocketed after I began smoking. I write essays regularly for fun and I have made many life goals and decisions while under the influence. I began just last year when I studied abroad for college. My eyes were open to a whole new mindset I had never before experienced. I quickly came to find that many things I was told about this drug were a lie. I have never felt any addiction to the drug. I have gone weeks where I would smoke everyday and then none at all for three weeks following and never felt any withdrawal. I have sufficiently kept up my health and will be in a half marathon in five months as well.

The people often shown on the internet and television smoking marijuana are not an accurate description of all smokers. There are thousands of smokers in this country that lead completely normal lives with jobs and college educations. Once, I realized this I was no longer ashamed but proud of being one of many that smokes in the shadows. Hopefully I will live to see marijuana legalized in my home state and people will see that it is not such a danger to society that we once thought.
