Fox shoots Army comedy at Cal State

    By Gabrielle Pantera

HOLLYWOOD, CA ( Hollywood Daily Star) 2014/1/7 – “We shot mostly on a set and Cal State,” said Enlisted star Geoff Stults at the summer 2013 Television Critic Awards. “Its about brothers the dynamic of them working together, and I’m their boss. But, at night I’m their brother.”

Enlisted is about three brothers with very different personalities who all enlisted in the army. Staff Sergeant Pete Hill (Geoff Stults) is sent home after assaulting a senior officer. He doesn’t realize right away that he being sent to Fort McGee where his two misfit brothers Corporal Derrick Hill (Chris Lowell) and Private Randy Hill (Parker Young) along with the other not ready for combat members of their squad are stationed in the rear detachment. Pete is now the platoon Sergeant for his brother’s troop. Can he whip them into shape? Jill Perez (Angelique Cabral) leader of one of the other troops on the base. She tough and the only female lead in the show.

The characters are engaging and there are many funny moments in the half-hour pilot. This is a different setting for work place comedy and the range of personalities with the brothers and the other soldiers make it relatable. There is sibling rivalry between the brothers and camaraderie with the troop. That they are still close even though they are so different is great to see. The fact that they have each other's back is a pleasant surprise. Hopefully they can keep the storyline going. There will be some more serious scenarios at times on the show.
