    The Inclination of Indonesia’s Television Programs: More Entertaining Less Educating

     
    For the 90’s generation, there are some longing of many old programs of local TV in Indonesia. At that time, there are various program that could be chosen according to the people’s preference. People could easily find the program as each TV station has its own uniqueness. In the other hand, we can call it: station branding. A TV has its major programs such as children program, teenager programs, government, lifestyle, etc. Nowadays, such kind of “station branding” is going to fade or had been faded away.
    As long as the globalization era rolling time to time, TV Stations must make a “catchy” program to raise their rating. The reasons that appear is to entertain the society whose activities has reached saturation point. For example infotainment, reality shows, and electronic cinemas. They are good at entertaining, but in the other cases those kinds of programs contain lack of educational values. Even, the broadcasting time doesn’t fit since those are broadcasted on “prime time”. A time when almost people make a space time to watch TV.
    Another case is, when a program is going to get many attention and become favourite among the other programs, the other station will make almost the same style. This make some TV station become monoton and boring instead of make a new and fresh program. But, sometimes people in Indonesia also not considering about choosing the good-quality program. That circumstance make the real good program difficult to get the place.
    As a part of society, Indonesian people need to be not only well-entertained but also well-educated. Today we hardly find a program that is suitable for children under age. And finally, the children watch a program for adults. It will affect mental side of the children, and the youth generation especially.
    Of course we hope that the stakeholder will give more attention in this case since television has been the most reachable media in Indonesia. We as the society also wisely choose what is good to watch in future so that The real qualified programs can give their contribution in building Indonesia.
