Big Dam in Northern quebec with big chacks

Significant cracks have appeared recently on the Southeast face of the Manic-5 hydroelectric dam. The last days have been particularly hard for the structure while intense thawing and freezing conditions have weakened the main side of the dam.

"If Manic-5 loose, one is in the shit!" launches a hydro engineer met on-site. "If Manic-5 loose, expect that others drop out one by one. Like dominoes, they will fall one by one' explains, visibly alarmed.

"If it does not settle it within 36 hours, in ended hydroelectricity in Quebec!" adds the man who accumulated more than 35-year career in the field.

The first Minister Marois was unable to be reached while she is currently on vacation in the Caribbean.
