Day 26: Reuniting Again As One
I got the chance to talk to Day 26 today and I must say these guys are hilarious. We laughed and joked so much I didn’t ask all of my questions. They are a talented bunch and very genuine. My Facebook friends were so excited when I announced that I was interviewing the group. Being as though they have been out for a few years, I’m looking forward for what is to come. Day 26 was signed to Bad Boy in 2007 and they are now currently signed with Atlantic Records. I asked the group, “ What have you guys been doing, the music scene has been missing your presence?” Brian states, “ We’ve been taking a break and growing. We’ve grown as individuals and have worked on our own projects. Rob has done some mix tapes and I have just finished up my solo project. Que released some mix tapes and Mike released a couple of song. So it’s been a growing process.” Robert states. “ Since I started doing my own individual projects it is a little awkward not being with four other people on stage.” They all support each other in their endeavors, which I think is awesome! I had asked Que about the anger and frustration that he was going through on the show. What was captured on the show everyone had gone through their own struggles but according to Brian and Rob, it was Que was targeted. Brian and Robert defended Que with what happened at that time. Que and Robert stated, “ I’m glad that they showed that side of what happened. It happened to all of us.” I agreed. The experience and pressures where new to the group. I’m happy that they overcame it and still put out good music and had the fans going crazy.
The group had to make a lot of sacrifices from going on the show to doing a lot of traveling once the group was formed. Brian states, “ Wow, I had to make a lot of sacrifices especially leaving my family. It was one of the hardest things to get used to. He said he would do it all over again if he had to.” The group too agreed that they would do it over again to gain their success. Their fans have always been loyal. With the group coming back together, they felt that they were being picked all over again. I asked the group their favorite song on their albums that they have sang. Everyone became speechless as they were in deep though. Robert stated his favorite song was “Bi-Polar” which is on the “ Forever In A Day” album. Let me say that is my favorite album and “ Stadium Music” is my favorite song. I asked Day 26 if they would sing it for me and they laughed. Needless to say I didn’t get my song but I will see them in concert very soon.
I know you must be thinking when is the next album coming out? The boys stated to me that are doing a reunion tour! Yes, they will be touring and singing their old hits before the new album drops. But, I don’t’ want to give it away because you have to watch BET’s 106&Park on January 30, 2013. I know I will be tuned in so I can find out tour dates and other important news concerning the group. Although Day 26 is no longer signed to Bad Boy, they show and give great gratitude Diddy and wish him well on his endeavors. Day 26 stated that Diddy started their careers and they will always show and have love for Diddy and Bad Boy Records. Some of my favorite highlights of the show was when they would practice together. Seeing Day 26 work hard as a group was fascinating to me. I mean they didn’t know each other that well but they learned and grew together. Now today in 2013 they are still together and growing. I look forward to their new album whenever it will be out and I have no doubt that Day 26 will be around for a long time. Each member is talented individually by their own right but together they are magical and their fans will always be around. Day 26 I appreciate the good music that you have put out over the years and I look forward to many more years to come.
