    Icy Iowa Landscape

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     2DSTORMS photographed the ice nodules, as he refers to them, coated on the trees outside his home in Hazleton, Iowa, on January 11. He says freezing temperatures and icy rain the night before helped form the ice. Currently, it's in the mid 20's, which he says is normal for Iowa this time of year, and he expects the ice will start melting when the sun is stronger.

Basically the weather on Friday, January 10, 2014, ranged from dense fog to freezing drizzle. We had rather dense fog with areas to our south having the freezing drizzle, but it did get warm enough to temporarily melt the hoarfrost crystals on the tree, but then refreeze. Overnight we experienced the freezing drizzle which made for some rather cool pictures here in NE Iowa. Just 5 days ago we were -22F, but we are now almost 50 degrees warmer the past couple days.
