Irum Nafees - Serving her Pakistani community with dedication and love

Who is Irum Nafees? Have you heard of this dynamic and powerful young woman? The world should know about this caring, loving, and wonderful humanitarian. Irum Nafees is a phenomenal woman. Most have not heard of her but she is working hard to make her corner of the world much better even if it is in the terrorist-infested state of Faisalabad, Pakistan.

Faisalabad, formerly known as Lyallpur, is the third largest metropolis in Pakistan, the second largest in the province of Punjab after Lahore, and a major industrial center in the heart of Pakistan. Pakistan is classified as a third world country and many only know the negative side of it by well publicized acts of terrorism, place filled with scary people. However, Irum lives with many peaceful people in a community where they witness people die daily from terrorist attacks. These deaths leave many children homeless and orphaned, where they are left to begging and some are recruited to become terrorist.

The fate of many women is horrific. Domineering men who are ignorant to the rights of women beat them. The lack of education ensures more people remain ignorant and they drown in their ignorance. Irum’s mission is to make a change for the poor in her community. She desires to love and hug them, trying to change their future. There are many great people whose lives are filled with darkness and hopelessness.

Irum, president of Concern Organization, and Gr8 Women Australia provides free evening school for labour children. The organization has eighty-three labour children enrolled, and they are now able to read and write. They now realize how important education is and how it has changed their lives forever. The organization also has an adult literacy center for women who are sweepers and home servants. There are forty-eight 43 women enrolled who are also learning to read and write the Urdu language. They are able to read Bible and help educate their children. The organization has given them hope by sharing with these women they have many rights, most importantly the right to live in freedom.

Irum has collected many stories of women that are amazing and painful. She is working on her first book, The Women of the Soil. Although she has had several health setbacks, Irum continues to work with women and children through the challenges and pain.

I sincerely admire Irum Nafees, Concern Organization Pakistan and Gr8 Women and all that they are doing for her community. She is beautiful inside and out. The world is a much brighter and loving place because of Irum. For learn more, visit her organization’s website at www.concernpk.org.
