Wikipedia says “Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization, embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management, etc. ERP systems automate this activity with an integrated software application. Their purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders”. Accounting systems such as MYOB and Quickbooks address a limited subset of these needs which is why so much company information is in spreadsheets.
The Adempiere ERP&CRM used in the Adaxa Appliance is a system that is similar in purpose to Microsoft Axapta, SAP Business One, Pronto etc. It also includes CRM functionality which directly utilizes the same ERP data to avoid duplication and errors. Adempiere provides access via a normal desktop application, AJAX browser interface and Mobile Phone interface. The Adaxa provided version is modified for Australian usage (eg file transfers to Australian Banks, GST set up and reporting, EDIFACT integration with business such as Bunnings)
Point of Sale:
AdaxaPOS is a multi-location Point of Sale extension developed by Adaxa that is fully integrated into Adempiere ERP.
The POS software is installed locally on PC based POS hardware and is designed to be fast and easy to use. Of course it supports a multitude of barcode readers and customer displays, and provides multiple receipt print options and easily configured receipt layouts.
But the real benefits of the system compared to other proprietary systems is the inter site communications. The technology is based on a secure asynchronous data communication model that provides all the benefits of central data management and reporting but without the risk of loss of operation of POS at remote locations due to loss of internet connectivity, or the loss of data. If internet connection is lost at a remoter location all data is stored locally and when internet connectivity is restored the stored transaction data is synchronized back to the central ERP system automatically.
Because of the real time transactions between the remote POS systems and the central Adempiere ERP you always have up to the minute data on all remote store locations
