Three Television moments that had a profound effect on me as a child. The funeral march for Martin Luther King. The First man on the moon. And lastly but not the least, the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. I was three years old at the time in Roswell New Mexico, My grandparents were the only one on the block who had a TV set. Almost twenty kids were all huddle around on the T.V. box. The excitement was in the air and when the moment arrived of Mr. Sullivan saying those famous magical words " the Beatles", all hell broke loose in the house. All the girls were screaming, jumping up, and down. My 16 year old aunt fainted on the floor. My Grand mother started crying. Her baby was dying, and it's the Beatles's fault. The Beatles were a devils tool. It wasn't "fit-tin" for a Christian Little did my family know, they created a little mop top fan who adores them to this day. I even remember the the Beatles's hamburger and frosty root beer meal at the A&W Drive In . 1964 a great year for music and a great year for cars! R.i.p. John, George and of course my father Grover A. Brown the greatest dad in the world who bought all my Beatles records of the time.
