This iReport is part of an assignment:
Caught in the traffic jam
When The Beatles played the Cow Palace in 1964, they stayed one night at the Cabana a luxury hotel, in Palo Alto, CA. When we found out, my mom piled several of us in the car, and we drove to the El Camino Real to see if we could spot them. About 50,000 others had the same idea and the traffic jam was truly epic. We were lucky enough to be right in front of the hotel.
The building, since remodeled and added to, was set back from the street by 50 or 60 yards and had a decorative open-work front. You could see people moving behind it.
Every time a person was spotted the whole crowd went a bit nuts. We were, of course, caught up in the mania and tried guessing which floor the Beatles were on and if someone we saw was a Beatle.
It was very exciting.
