    Wildfires blazing near you

    Glendora Fire Changes the Sky

Glendora Fire changes the sky. Pic from Caltech Campus. 8:30am, 1/16/2014.

    Experience behind the photo:

As I was driving to work this morning I couldn't take my eyes off the sky.  It was filling with smoke and the sun was bright red.  I turned on the radio to find out what was happening and that's when I heard about the Glendora fire.

When I arrived at Caletch, I purposely went to the roof of the parking ramp to get a better view of this strange sky. Then snapped this photo with my iphone.

I've seen the sky turn gray from smoke before during fires here in Los Angeles but this red sun was more eery than others. I could also smell the fire and my eyes started to sting a little. I'm about a 20 min drive from where the fire is raging. My thoughts are with all the fire fighters and the families being evacuated.
