BREAKING NEWS our FIRST HAIL IN Paramaribo

In Suriname last Thursday evening nature decided to give an unusual twist to the weather. Instead of the usual ‘dash of water’, a generous amount of ice chips came falling from the sky, turning several neighborhoods into a tropical cocktail on the rocks. And rock it did! People came out of their houses to see who were throwing stones only to find marble sized pieces of hail under there palm trees and their bougainvillea. Those that tried to sweep up the cold mess, discovered they had better use a mop, because at temperatures of 26° Celcius / 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit the ice melted quickly. Not so the hail from the lady who was so excited with this ‘early 2014 miracle from above’, she preserved her heavenly token in her freezer.
