Bishop Don Magic Juan Hosts Lavish Birthday Party
2013 was certainly an eventful year in Hip Hop in Los Angeles. Between the BET Awards, the official after party hosted by Chris Brown, The Players Ball, and the Bishop Don Magic Juan’s one year Anniversary party for his radio show- it was certainly a year to remember. This winter, as the year was drawing to a close, the hip hop scene was in full swing. On November 30th, 2013, the some of the biggest and brightest stars of hip hop arrived in droves, dressed to the nines to Roscoe Media Center in Los Angeles, California to celebrate with Bishop Don Magic Juan once again- this time for his birthday.
First the guests joined Bishop in the studio for a live recording of the show, which airs every Saturday night at 10pm on http://www.rmconlive.com. Looking around the studio, one could see a curious display of Moet Champagne, Cuestion Tequila, Hood Wraps, and Splitarillo Blunts disappearing quickly at the hands of rappers, models, DJ’s, and other exclusive guests wearing a colorful display of tricked-out fashions. DJ Krazy of Flavor of Love co-hosted the show, and the crowd smiled proudly as she discussed some of Bishop’s accomplishments on his birthday. It started with a short personal history by Bishop, including his journey from his hometown, Chicago, and how he got his name. He also reminisced about his work on the Oprah show and his various cameo appearances in movies such as Old School and Starsky and Hutch. Multiple guests brought birthday gifts for the Bishop to pay respect for his work in the entertainment industry. Some of the gifts included a beautiful birthday cake, Cannabis Energy Drinks, and rasta candies by Cali Fresh Edibles. Kush Cake Pops also provided some delectable edibles for the party.
Following the radio show, the lavish party continued down the street at The Treehouse Social Lounge. The man himself, Bishop, hit the scene in one of his trademark pimp suits, complete with a matching fedora. DJ Krazy was seen at his side to turn tables for this spectacular event. Next to the DJ booth were beautiful bikini-clad dancers who performed mesmerizing pole dance routines for a captive audience.
Always close to his side was Bishop’s friend of eight years, rapper DITCH, who said “The highlight for me was when Bishop cut his birthday cake. You have to honor, pay homage, and bless a legend like Bishop Don Magic Juan. He is one of a kind, there are many copies but he is one of a kind. He is a great guy who has helped me gain wisdom and knowledge- so the party for me was great. I was glad to be invited and be there to celebrate his birthday.” DITCH was gearing up to join Bishop for the 37th Annual Players Ball in Las Vegas the following weekend, which was surely another parade of debauchery and bling. DITCH also just released his own ice cream flavor, DITCH EXTREME in partnership with Sub Zero Ice Cream, which is available at select locations and is coming soon to Dubai. The flavor was premiered at DITCH’s show at House of Blues in Anaheim on December 10th, which also featured a charity toy drive for children in need. Additionally, DITCH performed for two thousand fans at the sold out “Bay Area Takeover” show at The Observatory in Orange County, California with fellow headliners Rappin4Tay, E40, Too Short, and Andre Nickatina. Rappin4Tay has a new 25 Year Anniversary CD forthcoming, featuring previously unreleased music with 2Pac, Akon, Snoop Dogg and more. Rappin4Tay will also be featured in his upcoming film, “Don’t Shoot, I’m the Guitar Man” with actor Eric Roberts. Also in attendance was model Gigi Pink, a friend of everyone’s favorite pimp for the last five years after meeting him at one of Snoop Dogg’s parties. Gigi considers Bishop to be “her mentor, friend, and boss”, as she reported that she is his camera woman, radio show coordinator, and at times his security. Gigi sentimentally recalled the highlight of the party for her when Bishop asked her to cut his birthday cake. She was honored.
As the night wore on, one could hear the sound of Bishop’s crew cheering his trademark tagline, “Chuuuch, preach, tabernacle!” into the fog of smoke that was the Treehouse Social Lounge. DJ Krazy threw down tracks so titillating; so combustible that even the more reserved party-goers busted a move or two. It was an exhilarating evening of homage to the Bishop Don Magic Juan on his birthday. The night was truly a banquet of bling; a soiree of swag. Between the beats, the treats, the fashion, and the women, there is no doubt that Bishop Don Juan is the epicenter of the Hip Hop scene in Los Angeles.
