    Albania , citizens in protest against the deviation of the river RADIKA

    Tirana - Albania : Tirana and Dibra citizens , supported by civil society , are cast in protest against the deviation of the river RADIKA .
    The Macedonian government has decided to build hydropower in Lukova Field, changing the natural flow of the river .
    " Stop deviation Radika " is one of the slogans that are located in many areas and in social networks . People say they will not allow deviation of the river . They call on the Government and Parliament of Albania , not to allow the formalization of such a project .

     

    The protests were sparked after the most recent statement of the Macedonian government spokesman , who said that despite the reactions , the Macedonian government is determined to go until the end of the project , the construction of hydropower Lukova Field .
    Protest against this project was held in New York from patriotic association " Dibra " , which has sent a letter to UN headquarters and the U.S. government , arguing that damages that brings the implementation of this project , not only to divert water , but also in ecological terms . An official letter was sent and the Albanian government to not sign the joint project with the Macedonian side .
    RADIKA , is the river which originates in Mount Vraca ( part of the Sar Mountains ) , at an altitude above 2,200 m . Southwest Kosovo passes then flows through Macedonia and flows into the Black Drin . Adriatic sea is the natural destination . RADIKA river is 67 km long . Deviation causes damage to the ecosystem .
