20-year-old goes abroad for the first time

I am a 20 years old Japanese. I went to Taiwan because it is easy and cheap to go there from Japan. I visited some of the tourist spots including Taipei city, Tamsui District, and Jiufen with my brother. It was the first time for me to go abroad. It was not only an enjoyable memory but also a valuable experience.

The places we visited were full of spirit and the people in Taiwan were very friendly. The popular port town Tamsui District, which we visited first had a certain air; there are a lot of stores along the coast. I enjoyed cycling using a rental bicycle through the port town. Taipei city is also a lively town. There are a lot of young people who enjoy themselves playing, shopping and more. It is really similar to Japan. The place we visited last Jiufen, is the most impressive town ever. This town is located in a high altitude. That is why it is possible to get a majestic view. When it gets dark in Jiufen, numerous lanterns shine bewitchingly. It it such a mysterious place that many tourists visit.

Through this trip I felt the importance of communication. I cannot speak Chinese and often made mistakes such as missing orders in restaurants. I feel keenly that if I speak well or can communicate well with the people in Taiwan, this trip would have been enriched. Also, I could feel my growth after facing another culture which is unfamiliar to me.
