This iReport is part of an assignment:
Tell us the Good Stuff!
Love and free!
“To help children through to help children by taking care of them and teaching English in developing countries” This is what I am eager to do in my life.
When I was an elementary school student in Japan, I watched a variety of programs about what children want to do the most. Almost all of them said to study English or learn something. In 2013, I got a chance to meet wonderful people and go to interesting places. I went abroad, tried snowboarding, worked at bar and so on. All these experiences were new for me, so I was really inspired. All these, I’d like to tell you about one which changed my life.
It is a book named “LOVE & FREE”. When I went shopping, I found this book and bought it unitentionally. It was written by Ayumu Takahashi, and the story is about his 2 year trip around the world with his wife. I was especially fascinated by this quote “if you do, you would know what”. We can know many things through the internet, but actually it is only written the much sure about this. We can learn many things through the internet but it is just words and pictures and there is nothing interesting. His words made me more active.
One day at my job, I talked about this book to a customer. coinsidently, he had same book and Ayumu Takahashi is his favorite author. We talked about this story a lot. Also, he was a member of several volunteer groups which help people in poor countries. When I told him about my dream, he took me to wonderful places which I had not know. I joined this group’s events, talked with women who belong to JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency)
a group which I respect because they help poor children a lot. We went to a small cafe and listened to a college student’s presentation about her trip around the world. All these things were great experiences to add to my dream.
During spring vacation last year, I went to Saipan with my best friend. When we arrived there, I decided “to be like Mr.Ayumu. To talk with many people, and to go to as many places as we can”, so I went to the sea and talked with many people. After we enjoyed snorkeling, we went a darts bar which one of them managed, and enjoyed dancing at a club named GIG.I danced like native people and talked with a lot of patrons.
I am thankful for all these things which I experienced. So this year I’ll try to do everything I had wanted to do.
