My Personal Art History
This is a recent submission for my studies in the Masters of Art Education from the University of Florida. The discussion of the importance of visual art education in the schools is ongoing. With budget cuts all around and in some circles of leadership I see a failure to recognize the ever increasing need for and integration between the arts, math and sciences. Especially in the areas of technology and industrial advancements it is imperative for people of all fields to have a background in the arts. Art helps with visualization, observation, problem solving and opens understanding. It is no wonder geniuses like Einstein saw the importance of imagination. Leonardo da Vinci being an inventor and an artist, his vision is like unto artists today. Personally as an artist and educator, I often wonder, "When will they see?" This video is about my personal art history. The people and experiences that have changed me and helped me to be a better person with a further developed understanding and appreciation of life, not just a better artist. Born and raised in Florida it provides a glimpse of life as it was years ago during the development of the Sunshine State and our modern culture generally.
