    Heavy Snow Threatens NYC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Photographer HLeung battled the weather to capture these images of areas around Times Square and Brooklyn (last two images) swaddled in snow Tuesday night. "It was frigid last night, especially with strong gusts of wind and the snow hitting your face," he said. "It was hard to walk in the street on the commute back home to Brooklyn." Read the latest on the chilly weather sweeping the eastern half of the U.S. in CNN's news story.

NEW YORK CITY - A winter storm is threatening to dump up to 14 inches of snow on parts of New York City, bringing along with it a blast of arctic winter weather. New York City is expected to have below freezing temperatures for nearly a week.

Shown here are photos of the Times Square area and commuters rushing to get home on the MTA public transportation. Commuters have commented on the subway delays and difficulty of travel for buses on the road.  Building maintanance workers are already working to have generators ready, just in case.

Cars on the roads and highways are moving very slow with caution. Authorities are advising everyone to avoid driving so that plows can do necessary work. Already there are multiple accidents on the road.  There seems to be 4-6 inches of snow on the ground.
