    Winter Blistering Blast

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Freelance artist jfinkel really felt the cold while taking these pictures across New York City late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. "The cold was extremely bitter, almost like anything I have never felt before," he said. "Walking along the Westside Waterfront was chilling to the bone. I would take my camera out to shoot pictures and -- if I wasn't losing all feeling in my hands within a matter of seconds -- my camera was being battered with high levels of strong gusts of winds." Read the latest on the cold weather and snow blanketing the Northeast U.S on CNN.
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

Venturing out into the bone chilling cold and winter blasts rocking New York City I found myself disoriented after 20 minutes of wandering the lonesome streets of lower Manhattan. Wind pelted my body until it was unnaturally numb and dysfunctional. My camera decided to stop working after 15 minutes outside in which I knew it was time to take cover in a warmer area. Stopping into a local bar in Battery Park I found the few brave souls in New York willing to become weather warriors for the sake of a good time. After warming up I headed back outside and saw snow drifting across the Westside Highway making conditions extremely slippery to drive. Along the sidewalks, snow drifted up two feet in some areas making traveling by foot just as treacherous.
