    All I can give...

There is a deep sadness in the soul of many of us who live on the coast of southwest Florida over the last couple days.
There has been day after day, stories of the Pilot Whales off our coast that are dying. The researchers are doing the best they can to figure out the problem, but it's to late for many in the pod.

We don't understand what's going on...

Is it something going wonky with the gulf stream or the currents in the water?

Has the oil spill left something unknown in the deeper waters of the gulf that the whales can't be there?

Is it the debris in the gulf?

    What is happening?
    No one knows...

It's a sad sad day, when the best you can offer these suffering creatures is an end to their pain. To euthanize them.

We watch the tourists on the beaches who stare in marvel and awe at the site of the whales. Some happily snapping pics of the suffering because of the scene before them. Making comments how, although they wish it wasn't in this circumstance, they are still happy to have seen the whales.

I can't help but be happy the whales can't understand what is happening on the beaches around them.

All I can do is say a little prayer for the Pilot Whales.
I suppose it's not all that important to many if these creatures live or die. For many their own lives are just more important.
Or some don't believe in God.

But for me, I will say my prayer
    It's all I can do...

(The pic is one I took in here Punta Gorda, Florida. At sunset)
