    Sweet Devil of Kaohsiung

a pair of spiky horns, hard mat black shell. It looks like a mask of devil; however, it is another Kaohsiung's winter flavor call "water chestnut". In spite of the ugly look, it has very sweet nut inside which taste just like chestnuts. the shell becomes mat black due to the surface burn while being grilled along with hot tiny rocks. It is to give heat evenly from all direction. As the result, the shell will be look sort of like mat black powder coat. the fingers become black when the nuts are being cracked by hand as well, but that gives additional charcoal grill flavor to the nuts. the simple flavored nuts goes absolutely good to go with beer or hot Taiwan tea. the water chestnuts are being sold at stand shop all over in Kaohsiung and southern Taiwan, but only in winter time!
