The Role Of The European Defence Agency Explained
The European Defence Agency has recently released an educational video explaining their role in coordinating European Member States defensive capabilities.
The EDA has a growing function in the EU and this video is part of a program of greater outreach to the wider EU population about the role it plays.
The European Defence Agency is bringing greater harmonisation into the operations of the European defence industry. Currently each member has rules about the operating standards of equipment and training, but each set of rules is slightly different creating a significant amount of administration. By developing a standard framework for these rules and procedures, EDA is helping to streamline the work of the European defence technological and industrial base and make defence cooperation smoother.
The agency has three directorates: Cooperation Planning and Support; Capabilities, Armaments and Technology; European Synergies and Innovation. The video explains these roles well and the impact they are having on the military of member states.
