    St. Paul Frozen Half Marathon

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area of Minnesota was recently named “America’s Fittest City” by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Another shining example of this is the yearly Securian Winter Run; a 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon held in late January that starts and ends in downtown St. Paul. This event is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival, a historic winter event that dates back to 1886.

This race passes by my condo on the Mississippi River, and I couldn’t help but take pictures of the dedicated runners, no matter how slow or fast, out in the cold this morning.

Currently, the local NBC affiliate KARE11 shows the temperature reading 2⁰ F, with the feel of -20⁰F.
Kudos, fellow Minnesotans, for braving the cold and defending your title of “America’s Fittest City.”
